How to use

  1. Add a PNG logo, icon, screenshot, or photo.
  2. Leave the output on AVIF so transparency can be preserved.
  3. Choose a quality or a target size.
  4. Convert and download the AVIF file.

Key benefits

  • Transparency stays

A transparent PNG converted to AVIF keeps its transparent pixels.

  • Useful for graphics

Logos, icons, and interface screenshots are typical PNG sources.

  • Still private

The PNG is not uploaded to create the AVIF file.

PNG transparency in AVIF

PNG is often used when part of the image must stay transparent. AVIF can store that transparency too. This converter does not paint a background behind a PNG when the output is AVIF.

If you later export that image as JPG, JPEG cannot store transparency. The AVIF to JPG tool flattens transparent areas onto white.

Quality and file size

A flat logo may already be small as PNG. Converting it to AVIF will not always shrink it further.

Photographs saved as PNG are often large. AVIF at a moderate quality can make those files easier to share. For a size limit, continue with compress to 100 KB.

FAQ

Common questions

Will a transparent PNG stay transparent?

Yes, when the output is AVIF. Transparent pixels are preserved instead of being replaced with a background color.

What happens if I choose JPG instead?

JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas are flattened onto white.

Are PNG files uploaded?

No. The image stays in your browser while it is converted.

Can I convert several PNG files?

Yes. Add multiple PNG files and convert the batch together.
